CONGRATULATIONS REV. ROSLYN!

We are overjoyed to announce that our Pastor, Rev. Roslyn Murray Bouier, successfully completed her  Ecclesiastical Council for the United Church of Christ on December 3rd! The next steps in her ministry include  a call as settled pastor and ordination. See below for information about the special congregational meeting to  begin this process.

Please congratulate Rev. Roslyn on this blessed achievement!

In July we were saddened by the passing of our beloved Pastor Emeritus, the Rev. Dr. Steven Archer, D.Min. Pastor Archer served Trinity-St. Mark’s UCC from 1998–2016 as Senior Pastor. He was a staunch advocate and community activist in Southwest Detroit. He is remembered fondly by the congregation, community and neighbors. You can read his obituary on the Voran Funeral home website.

The UCC Michigan Conference and Detroit Metropolitan Association both passed resolutions recognizing Rev. Steve’s ministry. The resolutions are printed on pages 9-11 of this issue of The Tidings.

A Message from Our Pastor

Rev. Roslyn Murray Bouier, M.Div.

“Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud  voice.15 He prostrated himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan.16  Luke 17: 15—16, NRSV

Dearly Beloved, Happy Lent,

In the above text we read of Jesus’ cleansing of ten Lepers. The story is likely familiar to most. Jesus,  on his way to Jerusalem, enters a village and happens upon a group of ten lepers. As custom dictated  the lepers kept their distance but called to Jesus, asking to be healed. Jesus’ response was; “go show  yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were made clean.”

They went in obedience, with I am sure great hope and expectation. And the text says as they left, in  faith, and obedience, they were made well. As we continue to read, we find out that one of the lepers  comes back and pre-praises God for his imminent healing and thanks Jesus, in advance.

As we enter this Lenten Season, I pray that we each walk in faith, and obedience—believing God in  advance for our healings, peace, deliverance and that which is personal to each. Praising God in  advance, and Thanking God for what God has declared is available to each of us—

The love, protection, and salvation of our Lord and Savior.

I do not know about you, but as for me, I am already praising, and thanking God for Resurrection  morning and yes, even the Good Friday’s as well.

Believing and trusting God, as we each make our way, on this Lenten journey of life, leading to  restoration and resurrected hopes, and dreams, all made available through our Lord and Savior.

Lord in your mercy, hear us as we pray, praise and give you Thanks!
